A few times every year Brian Wampler shows you how a dirt pedal is made. He shows you the classics because the fact is there are about 5 different basic topographys that make these pedals and ALL other are these same pedals with mods. It is why I get pissed when a company sells their latest pedal as something new and unique and wants $250.00 USD or more when it is just a mildly Hot Rodded Tube Screamer. 

Most OD's/Distortions are OpAmp based usually starting with the topography of a Tube Screamer. The best OD's use cascading FET transistors which is much more work and cost so they are worth the price.

CONCLUSION

Brian shows you just how easy you can turn this pedal into very different sounding ODs. So beware of magic new OD's that are NOT.

I have watched Wamplers how pedals are made' type videos over and over and over to give me a good idea what we are getting in my reviews. So ideally we don't get ripped off.
