This pedal's concept may well be a gamechanger. That said others have tried similar things and ...failed.
It emulates not so much the sound but the total response of what a guitar amp, or more accurately an integrated guitar amplifier does to the signal. It is a given that they must use FETS to do all the tube emulation. What is uniquely needed is power. So although it runs on
a 9v power supply the pedal uses a charge pump to kick it up to a full 40 volts. The power section needs to and does act like it has a large heavy transformer. When the transformer is overloaded with level/gain it 'sags' or in essence looses power momentarily but it then surges back on ramping your guitar signal to full. The feeling you get playing this when it happens is like your picking is throwing punches. The Layout is Volume, Gain, Sag and a toggle for a Bright switch on the power amp section.CONCLUSION __
Well from the get go it delivers what it promised. That said the overall sound of any OD
must have a 'voice' that we in general find pleasing. I for one have a few MIAB pedals
that I feel are noticeably better. In fact a hell of a lot better.
