VOX VALVE ENERGY SERIES 2 

Three years ago Vox invented what is literally a new kind of tube. The Vox Nutube 6P1 that did not need to be incased in a glass bulb that like an old incandescent light bulb and have its guts in a vacuum so it would not burn out. The idea was sell them under a license agreement so builders of amps and pedals could build guitar pedals and even amps. They were small, robust and did not burn out and needed replacing etc. What more could you want??? 

There were no serious takers. The project failed. 

They did however make their own.

                CONCLUSION ____

Not all tubes are created equal. The problem from the start is that a specific tube creates a specific sound. 99% of all tube amps get most of that from the preamp tubes.

What is more, 99% of amps from Fender to Marshall uses 12AX7 tubes.

These goofy nano Vox tubes do not sound or react like a 12AX7.

I bought one of the Series 1 pedals. The Cutting Edge that is meant to be the super high gain Metal one. It was totally gutless and had less balz than a cheap budget OD pedal with an OpAmp or transistors.

Perhaps the series 2 are a hybrid with the nano tube for color

and dynamics but use some transistors for some balz???
