HISTORY OF THE GRAHAM BOND ORGANIZATION
Ginger Baker on drums, John Mclaughlin on guitar
I jumped the pond and flew to London's West End End about this time.
I new about Graham and his bands. I new he was cool and all the big names of the era either played with his band or at least dropped in the clubs to see him and would likely get up and jamb. Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and John McLaughlin are the heavy weights and most of you know of John Mayell's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, followed by Peter Green and then Mick Taylor.
Ginger Baker & Jack Bruce
the fine print
The audience going crazy. This was the club scene in the West End.
It was a crazy time that really started growing rapidly around '65 and every 3 or 4 months some new band came out of nowhere and like magic you had The Who, Clapton and bands, Page, Jeff Beck, Brian May etc.
It was a time that I could walk over to Clapton and ask to try out his guitar, or go to a Jazz gig with Steve Howe or just go to a club and hang with Keith Moon or talk about amps with Ron Wood.
I felt like one of these guys. I felt my band Tallis could be the next big deal. It was not unreasonable. We played the same clubs with line ups to get in at them all the time. In fact Super Tramp were playing these clubs at the same time and we out drew them.
