REVERB- FENDER Hammertone Reverb ... the poor mans Strymon ???

FENDER HAMMERTONE REVERB
$100.00 USD
This is a 'players' reverb. The 21st century substitute for what an Accutronics Spring reverb was from the 50's through to the turn of the century. Typically an always on device that acts as a pleasing frame of ambiance around a guitar signal. It is not a special effects reverb and if forced into it it will be lame. Forget any Star Wars soundtracks. In short you can use it on any tune you play or any style or genre you indeed play in.
The lay out is time, volume, damp ...which is really important as it kills the sibilance like extra highs that can easily muddy your sound. A tone switch also is included for in the real world needing more highs knocked back. A switch gives you Hall, Room and Plate. They wisely do not include Spring as at this price it would be a professionally unusable.
CONCLUSION
If Strymons $380.00 USD Reverb sounds are a 10 this is a Keep in mine many of those classic verbs on those 20 year old and loved recordings were a 7. It blows away ALL the popular verbs pedals from the best of the Chinese. Why??? Because the algorithms were designed to work for a guitar. Not a 'one size fits all' to include keyboards or whatever. To be fair the $100.00 USD ...JHS Series 3 Reverb and
Hall Reverb are equal in tone quality. Most players only 'really' need one excellent sound.
