Most of you know that Eddie used variable voltage control box that can reduce the amount of power being sent right from the wall plug to the amp. In short the amp was starved of power. He initially did it because he ran his 100 watt Marshall dimed. At small clubs the owners would go ballistic so he tried this to lower the volume. It did do just that. It also increased the distortion and sustain big time!

The pedal is voiced bang on so the single tone control is all you need to match your amp and guitar to the pedal. You can zero in killer dirt and sustain from the 'Variac'
