It is quite simply a Plexi-in-a Box.
Big BUT! Most off us have judge the sound of a Plexi from recordings where 99% of the time the guy that is playing it never turns off an old 60's Rangemaster treble booster (which boosts a lot of upper mids too) with a Fuzz pushing that or the guy is at the very least hitting with a Tube Screamer with the level turned up to push the amp into a higher gain. This is what a Plexi sounds like without any help at the most you get a fat chunky Crunch.
CONCLUSION
Nothing not to like. It does what it does very well.
For comparison is a Origin Effects Revival Drive Compact.
The Origin is $465.00 USD almost double.
The One Control Purple Plexifier is also the same thing
again but at $160.00 USD. In each case more
money buys you a sound with more refinement in the
detail of the overtones and harmonics. Even a stupidly
hot pedal like the Friedman BEOD is surprisingly thin
sounding thru the average Combo amp and a bit muddy.
There are only a few companies that pass my OD smell test.
Lawrence Petross Design, PedalPalFX and Tech N Tone.
I enjoy many pedals that are definitely Pro but still have
a few minor faults.
The video goes over a simple yet confusing
array of controls in detail.
I have the One Control designed by Bjorn Juhl his take on took on the identical approach. If I were to move up I would get the Origin and skip anything in the middle. I got my One Control from a wholesaler blowing out excess stock because the C19 had him shut down with bills to pay. I paid $110.00 USD
You can also find them used.
