OVERDRIVE- MXR Gran Torino ___NEW___ the 2013 Torino re-birth ___or is it a V.2

$150.00 USD
MXR GRAN TORINO
BOOST OVERDRIVE
All the best OD pedals for years have been FET transistors because they
function like tubes. Ideal for the best amp-in-a-Box pedals. These days the best pedals are voiced to clone classic amps and many are exceptional. The MXR is a V.2 of their 2013 Torino. It is old school Hard Rock when it was enough to have a generic tube amp vibe. Ironically this pedal reminds me of some of the current hot rodded Blues Breakers that anything on the gain knob above 10 o'clock goes into high gain and good-bye BB sound. Yes the BB is an Opamp not a JFET pedal. A polar opposite, lol. It says a lot about a good Op-Amp vs. a so-so FET pedal. The layout is Volume, Gain, Treble, Mids and Bass with a switch to kick in a boost.
CONCLUSION ___
One could cover the same ground with a beeped up BluesBreaker but to be fair some of that FET thing comes through and the price is fair
in a world of other brand names wanting between $200 to $250.
