A Fuzzy Drive. Think of Boss DS-1 Distortion but with the warm gritty sound of a Tone Bender. To do that you need a lot of Germanium transistors. They were not used enough by end of the 60's for the manufacturer's to continue making them. The radio and television companies wanted the new silicon transistors. Those that are around are few and far between. In short a good trick is to use just one to color the sound and use silicon for the others. The layout is Volume, Input boost, and Gain. Texture is more gain. A toggle gives you different voices.

useful when the OD's and Fuzz pedals you have are not
