The pedal is designed to keep the sound clean and defined yet distort the overtones separately then blend them together at the output. This is
done by splitting the signal unto 3 bands.
CONCLUSION __
The same approach is used in their Monferrato OD. With it you get medium to high gain with a very rich sound that is open and not saturated yet you get long sustain even at low volume levels
without the pedal sounding compressed. In fact it is on my
short list for 'pedal of the year.'
