SHAFTSBURY DUOFUZZ
Rose-Morris were a musical instrument distributor founded in the 1920's. In 1966 they had morphed into the evolving electric scene
and formed their own in house brands. This Fuzz was part of that.
They like several distributors had a store in London that although
they sold to the public was important for the hundreds of small
shops to visit London and see the whole line of product. They are
most noted for distributing all the early Marshall amps. This Fuzz
is a resurrection of a 1980's Fuzz and was modded and built for
them by Thorpy.
CONCLUSION __
It is not a Tone Bender actually it is more like a very early Shin-ei. It does the octave thing but that is not its strength. The second voice of the 'Duo' is. It has a distinct raspy nasal sound that can be dialed in with enough breadth to give it some serious aggression. I confess I quite like it. But? not for $335.00 USD.
The just re-issued EarthQuaker Master General is a much better choice with seriously good and usable octave tones plus its other sounds are excellent.

What about the EHX Lizard queen?
ReplyDeleteIt sells for $40.00 USD at Sweetwater. That tells us a lot :-) The Behringer Super Fuzz is $30.00 USD. both are usable. But with pedals like the EarthQuaker Master General you play a few chords and stop and yell......"WOW"!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have a look at the Master general !
