I have no idea why, but WTF. The big deal is the unit allows you to sweep through its range which will boost a spot where you want a band of distorted saturation/compression.

The layout is volume, tone and gain. The Shape is a narrow focused sweepable boost of dirt. 

 

CONCLUSION ___

Different but just how it is much benefit is debatable especially with just one very ambiguous video.
