Quite simply the pre of a Randall RG-100 amp class A/B solid state amp
in a pedal. A favorite amp of Dimebag Darrell when in Pantera.The layout is Master, Presence, Gain, Bass, Mids and Treble. It also has a switch for sustain and another for a mid boost.
CONCLUSION __
How close is it. Well, close. You can however push it even harder than the amp.I love it. A totally massive sound but with the control that an amp-in-a-box has over a Fuzz. Nothing needed from your tool kit like EQ, Comps, low pass filters, boosts or a Fuzz stacked with it. It is all there in one little box!!!!

Master Effects is Tim Gorjanc who has made a pilgrimage of trying to reproduce a whole era of classic defunct Metal amps. In all cases he starts by duplicating their pre-amp. Many great pedals have been shelved because the parts are impossible to get anymore. All those before and those available have captured the spirit of the originals.
To me the most important thing is not to lose the punch, the balz ...the fat sound with it's incredible breadth of these amps. If all that mattered is dead accuracy we
could get a modeler. The first thing a modeler would do to it would be to rip the balz off it!!! ...So with the Vulgar ...I have no complaints.
