ELECTRO HARMONIX
PICO PLATFORM COMPRESSOR
This is second in the new Pico line of mini pedals. It has the now expected layout of Attack which can delay the compression and let your pick attack bite thru before the comp springs in. Volume, Blend of Comp and Dry signal and Sustain. It goes from about a 4 to 1 ratio up to a limiting at 12 to 1.
$120.00 USD It has a switch for for more compression or hold it in for a hard knee Rock guitar type comp to a soft knee type smooth studio comp.
CONCLUSION ___
It covers all the bases and at the same time keeps it simple. Comps in spite of squeezing the harmonics have some dynamics. Like any pedal they have a 'sound' in spite of the nonsense that some are invisible. They also have a feel. Get any of that wrong and they are more frustrating than an unresponsive Overdrive. Finally the best give breadth to your sound and others thin your sound. If it is really good it will get very popular but that will take at least a year. Otherwise you need to try this one. Unless me ...Mr. Ruthless buys one.
the fine print
It is a digital compressor. There are easily over 100 killer ones that are just software downloads for the thousands of DAW out there. Hell some good ones are free. Then there some impressive ones in several modelers. So putting one in a reasonable price pedal is a no brainer. TC Electronic have one but it is years old and will have a very second rate chip. Others are hybrid pedals that are as pricey as the Origin analog Cali76. ... It is still King. Even if you are analog crazy like me it is a given if I record my sound will be nailed with a digital comp. It simple is a given to make digital recordings work. Sooner or later I will have to check out this thing at my local bricks and mortar.
Does EHX claim this is a digital pedal?
