OVERDRIVE- FORMULA B PEDALS Eighty Master ___ NEW ___ 80's Marshall sounds

FORMULA B PEDALS| EIGHTY MASTER

$310.00 USD
This Italian artisan pedal maker has been totally under the radar.
All over Europe many one man operations service do well just selling just within their own country and making a few sales from neighboring counties.
The goal with this pedal was cover the array of Marshall sounds of the eighties. It was a time of customizing Marshalls to get each player 'his sound'. Hence a unique layout to do just that.
It starts with the familiar volume and gain with bass, mids and treble. A switch gives you characteristics of either a 50 or 100 watt amp. modeling is the voice that acts on the presence and comp is to control the level of saturation.
CONCLUSION
There are no budget OpAmps in this pedal. FETS are used to replace valves/tubes so the topography is basically that of a real tube amp with FETS subing as tubes. Using the best parts doesn't hurt either.
The harmonics and overtones are sweet, rich and defined. It sounds like an amp Howard Dumble would make if he wanted a Brit sound. The perfect pedal for a guy wanting the sound of a Brit amp with an EL34 sound but with a very refined sound like a Dumble. Not cheap but it's aim was never to make second best. It set out to one thing and nail it flawlessly. It does.

the fine print
...when it comes to five or ten choices of the best MIAB then it gets down to nothing but personal aesthetics.
If like me you may find several are different enough to want more than one or indeed several.  Recently both
this Formulae B and the Australian Colortone Parasite. Both have great sounds in their lower ranges. But
when pushed the Formula B is huge massive and rich but short of 90's sounds will not rip your face off.
The Parasite starts 80's but starts tearing the back wall down when pushed.
I favor the Parasite but I certainly see why others would not. They are both worth a second listen if choosing either.
