In '64 Leo Fender designed the last Strat PU's that were designed by him. He went for a higher output.

He stopped the winding just short of losing the famous Stat 'chime'. They were only in the 64-65 Stats. Fender had at that time stopped working for Fender in any way.
Too bad because the following Strat PU's were so hot after he left that when used with a lot of dirt started to blur the lines between a Strat and hummie sound. in short if you have a 67 you can guarantee you do not have a 'Classic Sound'. Some guys do not care or simply want a high output.
I have a hand wound accurate in every way to that '64. I feel it is the perfect compromise between the two camps.
