In 1966 a small company produced the Astrotone Fuzz. Sam Ash had them rebranded as the Sam Ash Fuzz Box.
At that time any fuzz was so new that most players were not interested. There wasn't any media to even let one know about any gear. The few magazines that wrote about Star players focused on the music often not mentioning any gear at all.
So it is not surprising that most were sold by Sam Ash that were considered a very cutting edge store where a salesperson might nudge you to check out new tech.
Analogman has done one of their meticulous jobs of recreating this little gem.
CONCLUSION
This is one of the first Fuzz pedals that voiced their box with something heading towards the future OD's that came later. In short unlike earlier Fuzz pedals it did not forced you to accommodate their foibles. In short it reacted more like amp distortion to your playing.
