When the BB came out 10 years ago it became the fashionable pedal to have. Guys like Andy Timmons used one and it was simply 'cool' to have it. After 3 years it got stupid big so it was the perfect pedal to clone.

Is it a modded Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal.  A guy from Xotic was asked and he simply said "better blues", lol.

It does have a pleasing full clear transparent sound with very good attack. It came out at the beginning of the 'transparent' boom. It, unlike many OD's will let you play rapid aggressive strummed rhythms and strum out things some of the very best OD's would turn to mush. 

CONCLUSION

This OD is one of the first 'transparent pedals. It is definitely a useful tool on it's own and can be stacked or boosted for that sustain. For many this was bought as the 'better Tube Screamer'. It has silly amounts of level. They often are used with the gain backed off as a boost. In my book this pedal is a 'tool' that can fix up a lot of problems, even those you don't even know you have, LOL. The Xotic original costs $215.00 that's 

over 7 times more so it is worth the gamble to see what ill it might cure. 

HANDS ON

So I bought one.

It is killer used on a Tele or a Strat. At low gain settings you get a crisp full tone yet your sound is as clean as if you were playing straight into the amp. Even boosted you keep the chime on a Strat. Exactly what I was looking for. When I use my Fuzz Face going thru my UnVibe adding the 'Burst' is killer!
