Well right from the get go we have a tall order ...a JTM 45-in a-BOX?
I am a stupidly big fan of Marshall pedals. I own and use 14 of them that are meant to be exactly that. I have bought and dumped easily another 10 that were wannabes that did not cut it. The best JTM-45 I have ever heard is Keeley's El Rey Dorado. My only beef with it is ol' Rob could not resist adding a high gain boost which destroys the tone of an otherwise perfect JTM 45. Keep in mind
a JTM45 is NOT a Plexi although some throw it in that group because in it's last few years of production it had the whole look of one. The JTM-45 is a modded Fender Bassman. A real Plexi is an original design that to this day is the basic guts of any Marshall. A Plexi has those massive low mids that spell 'Fat'! A ...JTM-45 has the 'sound' but has an average fullness. When heard in a band usually the bass player masks the fact that the
JTM-45 is not as fat as you think. The short story is
worth owning both a JTM-45 and a Plexi pedal.
CONCLUSION
W.T.F. is this ? Listen to the Keeley in my Post
It sounds like a JTM 45. The Litigator sounds like a rather OD/ Fuzz.
It suggests several pedals that are hard clipper type Op Amp pedals. They tend to excel best when they stay in 'Rat' territory where they tear off your face.
I have since found that Dan DeMay is our guy at Spun Loud. So we will keep an eye on ol' Dan to see what he brings us next :-)
Dan get's bonus points for tasteful graphics and a reasonable price.
