NO ONE OWNS ME___ I MAKE ZERO $ FROM THIS
AMP- ENGL Power Cube 200___NEW___ Pedalboard, Tube pre or Modeller amp
ENGL ···
POWERCUBE.200
$350.00 USD
A simple Class D Power amp for pedals and Modelers.
It is rated at 200 watts but since it is likely to be
plugged into an 8 ohm cab it can only
produce 130 watts.
CONCLUSION ___
Keep in mind Class D amps are digital not tube or old school transistor solid state so they do not have any
balz. They also have a very weak and muffled high
end. In short no highs or lows or any balz. That said
ENGL are experts with tube tone & they have a pre-
amp in the unit to compensate. Its only serious and available competitor is the Seymour Duncan Power
Stage. A noticeably muddy amp that costs $500.00.
ALTERNATIVE ___
Wampler have the not released the Pedalhead amp. In real world terms it is easily as loud a 50 watt
PLEXI. It uses AI machine language that can mimic how a real tube amp responds and feels as you play. Unfortunately it needs the same chip used by those building hundreds of AI stations needing thousands of these chips. The prototypes were shown in February & the earliest pedals if arriving on time will not arrive until November. Note I said if they are not delayed. My guess is this amp will not arrive until early 2027.
These chips are not cheap. A guestimate is the price will be $600.00 USD. To be honest I expect more.
There are thousands of guys that need a no excuse amp that is portable, even an amp that is part
of a fly-rig.
I am convinced it is a 'gotta have' and have been saving since February to get one!!
My budget for ANY gear is $100 a month so I have had to suck up the impulse to
buypedals except for a blowout price MIC pedal for under $30 each
