FUZZ- MOJO HAND FX Iron Bell ... a self proclaimed generic Muff

 MOJO HAND FX
 IRON | BELL
$170.00 USD
Mojo Hand were amongst a few regional small companies that started the first of the handmade gourmet pedal brands. Oddly so is Cusack that eventually bought the out. In short this is a Cusack pedal. They make reliable well made and popular classics at the lower end of U.S. made pedals.
The Iron Bell is basic Muff with a layout of volume, Tone and Gain. The 'Color' control is a Cusack thing that adds a bit of sparkle and bight and shows up in a few Cusack dirt pedals.
            CONCLUSION __
Nothing sells a Muff faster than tagging the Gilmour name to it. Gilmour all but never used a fuzz that was not altered, hot rodded or boosted by other pedals. Add to that if he played 5 tunes on an LP you could end up with 5 different Muffs. But to get back to my point the Ad copy for this pedal calls it the Gilmour Fuzz. Which is 110% bullsh@t, LOL.
Well the Iron Bell has remained unchanged for 12 years so it certainly
has it's fans, 😇

...the new Pigtonix Gas Giant is their take on a Muff. It has some serious extras with control of the BIAS and even a gate. You can get some seriously boosted  fat sounds. Add to that the quality build is a given and the price is $150.00 USD.  Check out the April 3rd review.
Oddly enough Pigtronix is also one of the historical regional  upstarts from the past too.

  1. The Iron Bell is a confirmed Skreddy P19 clone but has the mids switch replaced with a pot. Its general aim is a boosted ramshead muff. You’re spot on about the artwork though. Atleast they aren’t like Wren and Cuff and clone the whole big muff enclosure lol.

  2. I reviewed the Skreddy on Mar 31,2020. They do sound dead similar. I do not do cover tunes so I look for things that fit my original tunes. They vary more than a Gilmour tune. Gilmour is a guy trying to find the perfect shade of grey. In spite of all his gear. It has a medium gain OD sound. It certainly does not scream FUZZ at you. I can go from a Sultans of Swing sound to a doom sound in the same tune. I love the dramatic contrasts. That is why I would go for the Pigtronix Gas Fuzz. It has a good 2 or 3 completely different sounds.

  3. I keep a PastFx Patriarch which can cover both civil war ang rams head tones for my muff tones-I’m a Gilmour fan. As well as a vintage style fuzz whether it be a ToneBender or Fuzz Face along with a do it all Skreddy Screwdriver.
