The Tone control is unique as it interacts with the usual asymmetrical distortion of all Fuzz pedals and adds in symmetrical distortion that has even order harmonics that smooth out the sound. The Tube Screamer OD is all symmetrical distortion and when added to the asymmetrical distortion of your amp it is part of why it is the most popular OD ever made.
