DELAY-BOSS DM-2W ...is it worth the big bucks ???

 BOSS DM-2W ANALOG DELAY
$155.00 USD
The original Boss was an excellent sounding analog delay. In the 80's the bucket brigade chips most popular were ones like the Panasonic. They were cheap and had a very warm character and pleasing  character. Keep in mind the object of Panasonic was never a nice warm tone but a transparent and clean sound. The chip was meant for consumer products. More chips were found in Karaoke machines than pedals. In short the chip was stepping stone and was guaranteed to be discontinued.
The original was a much loved pedal. BIG BUT. So was the MXR, the Ibanez and others as they used the same tech and often the same parts. A few years back Panasonic agreed to re-release the original Panasonic 3201 and 35002 BBC chips.
It allowed Boss to take on a Waza Craft variation. They nailed the old sound added another and did the whole thing in stereo.
CONCLUSION
First a purist does not need or want stereo. The pedal was
designed in the first place to sound killer thru the front end
of a single amp. The only pro using stereo live these days is
usually using a modeler for their whole rig. The price is not crazy
but for half you can get a NUX Reissue Series Analog Delay.
It is the twin sister to Ibanez AD-80 an equally coveted vintage
delay. The NUX is $60.00 USD.
