It come from a long line of Op Amp type dirt pedals that started with the Rat but once shortly after the BOSS SD-1 defined the best with it's more nearing cranked tube amp sound. Caline admit to it being a clone of a famous Distortion pedal. The layout is basic with a volume, tone and gain. Caline always does a reliable build quality. The graphics are a bit of a yawn but are thankfully understated.
CONCLUSION
It is one of Calines better pedals. Overall it it has a very 80's vibe. It has very fat rich sounding mids sound without with a bit of airy openness to it. It
is excellent with chords with enough definition between the notes and a decent attack. If needs be it is even strumable. It's only weakness as it has only nominal sustain.
I listen to a couple of good videos of the Boss SD-1 and am convinced that the Caline started with it's topography. They have likely changed a diode or two for more gain. They could have started with Tube Screamer since that's what Boss did to change the ts asymmetrical distortion to asymmetrical but they wanted that asymmetrical tube like sound.
