ALEXANDER PEDALS
JUBILEE SILVER OVERDRIVE
This is a pedal version of a 1987 Marshall golden 2555 Jubilee amp. The amp itself even came clad in silver vinyl.
This is yet another Marshall JMC 800 pedal
So what's better about this one?
Sound wise it NOTHING!!! LOL
There are many I like better. I own several JCM 800 style pedals.
....SO WHY IS EVEN BEING REVIEWED ?
In a word it is TIGHT...very tight but without that keeping it from having a half decent full sound.
If you consider yourself a beginner or are someone that does not want to deal with using your technique or perhaps a gate to keep the sound under control ...then this is for you.
You can back it off for a good mid gain pedal to do things like accompaniment style playing. You can crank it with a bit a lush mid range for a classic lead sound. You can even scoop it to get a very controllable and surprisingly impressive Metal sound.
It is the essential Swiss army Knife distortion pedal.
So in short ...great sounding ...easy to control ...easy to set up a good sound with a nice 3 way EQ ...and versatile.
It is a bit pricy for a beginner.
BUT..this thing is not 'training wheels' for a beginner on a bike...
a lot of players consider a very tight sounding pedal even with years of playing and a very good technique to be the sign of a superior pedal.
For those that hate having to fuss to get a good sound ...this is your pedal.
Easy to set up in seconds to get several basic but useful sounds.
BULLET PROOF!!!
I think no matter where in the future your playing takes you this pedal will be a 'keeper.'
