SINVERTEK DISTORTION No.5
$150.00 USD |
That said ...It in fact it is very late 60's 100watt Plexi. It is no where as near rich and detailed as the last few pedals I have reviewed. The sustain is lame.
On the plus it has quite a wallop. It can cover a mid gain and high gain OD well.
Nov 2018 ...version 2 is out with a bit of re-voicing and a little more headroom.
WILL I BUY ONE?
For once ...NO!
check out the Dawner Prince Red Rox Distortion it will eat this breakfast. A much better sound and it has an incredibly looooong sustain!!!
...or check out Surprise Sound's HVO indistinguishable from a gourmet amps dirt channel!!!
One guy who bought one found it so good he gave up on his King of Tone that he had been using for 14 years!!! That is one F.ing big recommendation!!!
Nahhh this is easily the best distortion pedal on the market to date. Straightforward, clean, clear, tight gain. No ugly peaky frequencies to deal with, and not a ton of need for EQ, just convenient that it's there. Plus that Dawner Prince you listed is just an overpriced Angry Charlie, but at least it's sort of in the same ball park. Not too sure about eating for breakfast though, maybe a strong contender for a more classic tone. The HVO is yet ANOTHER honky, woofy overdrive, and is just simply not worth the price... We don't need more of those- a single version of the tube screamer was fine enough.
ReplyDeleteI agree entirely. I turned this pedal on for the first time playing through a bland acoustic guitar amp, all the controls on zero, turned up the volume and gain and out came this absolutely stunning distortion.
DeleteAngry Charly ball park isn't even close to the Sinvertek.
ReplyDeleteThe HVO from Surprise Sound Lab is the best overdrive I’ve played. It runs at 250v and it slays every overdrive I have. It is indistinguishable from a very good overdrive channel on your clean amp. Highly recommended.
