JDM PEDALS ELEKTRIKA SILICON EDITION Very shortly after the Tonebender v.1 came out Hornby Skewes came out with the Zonk Machine. It was the first Fuzz to give a bit of an Overdrive vibe. It however used germanium transistors was troublesome. Only about a year later a silicon version arrived and players loved it. Like all these pedals people take sides. I was just starting out at the time and can remember the best of the local players having the v.2 Zonk.
This is the JDM take on it. The controls are basic with Volume, Gain and Tone.
CONCLUSION ____
One the best of the very lovely nasty early Fuzz units retakes.
Half Tonebender and half Zonk extras. Using NOS parts.
Not for the timid player!

ReplyDeleteJDM is a highly underrated fuzz company. Joe does fuzz pedals right with measured and hand selected transistors. I even purchase my nos germanium’s from him. I have bud hot plate Tonebender iii it’s glorious.
