COMPRESSOR- SUHR Woodshed Compressor ___ NEW ____ Andy Woods Signature

$150.00 USD
SUHR
 WOODSHEAD COMPRESSOR
Designed for Andy Woods. The pedal has been sold out for 2 years so they kept pulling it off their site. It had become a Cork Sniffers pedal, LOL. It is why I did not ever Post a review. No sense pizzing you guys off. It is why I labelled it NEW on the title. Technically it is not.
     ....<>^
A very simple but effective and simple unit. Pattern after the VCA studio type Comps. They have a bit off punch but not like a strictly guitar MXR Dyna Comp/ Ross style OTA compression with a pumping effect. They are aggressive but transparent, clean and smooth.
The layout is Threshold, Gain, and. A switch gives you a choice of slow or fast attack.
CONCLUSION ____
All Comps claim to not color your sound, LOL. Wrong!!! Two things happen. They can have an ugly sound or they can restrict the breadth of your signal and thin it out. The ugly thing is totally objective.
FET types tend to be fat but they can be very colored. Even so the Origin Cali76 at $400 has been a colossal success even though it is an obscene price. For half that you now can get the UAFX Compact 1176. Both are a take on a UREI 1176. UA/United artist bought half the shares in UREI  in 1966 when the compressor was new. It should be as good if not better.
Optic Comps are very colored, react slowly but sound warm and fat.
There are digital comps and PMW but they do not tend to show up as being
very popular as on your board straight into your guitar amp favorites.
Confusing as there are 7 types, lol.
What you will like will be as much about 'feel' as sound. One guy
described compressors as an Overdrive for your clean sound.
He is right that is why I have different kinds.

the fine print
The unit sounds very good and the price is right. If I was guessing on my first Comp
I would buy the UAFX compact 1176 at $200 or if money was tight I would get the Suhr.
or the Keelely Compressor + ...at  $150.00.
