It has gone thru to other versions. The first was in a big box
When they did a make over putting it into a a standard Hammond style 'B' box it got a few tweaks. It had a decent tone ...but it was far too polite.Barber was a fav of the Jazz Fusion crowd so maybe it was deliberate.
Well thank god they updated it. The new one v. 3 has balz
The new drive has a much better low end and the highs
are noticeably smoother. You can switch between low gain and medium gain. The other switch tightens the lows.
They have won me over! It is a great medium OD. I would give it a pass if you are looking for more aggression or something to shred'
the sound is very 70's not 80's or the sound of the early modded Marshall's in the late 80's and 90's.
It is a great sounding pedal. If your music uses a lot of chord work, flat picking etc.
this would be ideal as a very controllable pedal and that low gain switch will come in handy
when a lot of vocal accompaniments are the order of the day.
If you already are using a much more aggressive drive then even when this is pushed hard
you get a lot of control that is damn useful if you need to back off a bit. I find myself that just pulling back on the guitar volume is often not enough. I have a few Marshall pedals in this end of the spectrum that I not only use ...but needed. You spend a lot of the gig plodding along behind the vocals so something as sweet as this is a treat.
Besides ...for a nice hand made pedal this is a steal at $120.00 USD.
