WALRUS AUDIO ERAS FIVE-STATE DISTORTION
A totally unpretentious revitalization of the old school hardclipper distortion. You get the usual volume, gain bass and treble then 5 voices on a switch and you can blend in some clean signal if you need a bit more definition.
It is a natural follow up from their AGES Five-State OD which is a low to medium gain near Tube Screamer style machine. The ERAS takes that gain to the next level.
CONCLUSION
It does remind me of all of the Boss classic OD's. It definitely has a Boss SD-1 vibe..
It also harks back to the 80's and 90's when gourmet pedals were all about refining
and getting the bugs out of sounds we loved instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.
Those that tried to reinvent the wheel went from the store to our board and
then listed on Reverb in record time.
The ERAS makes for simple and useful tweaks with it's voice selector knob that work instantly. The changes on it are not drastic but aim at making the not just right to
usable by matching to your technique and your present gear.
The ERAS can really cover a lot of bases so it could fill in a lot holes your present OD's have left.
