OVERDRIVE- CALINE CP-69 High Peak Distortion- MXR clone? or even better?

CALINE CP-69 HIGH PEAK DISTORTION
$40.00 USD

It's no secret that Caline makes clones. Some poorly some passable and 3 that I tried beside the originals the were 99.5% identical. Brand new Ibanez TS-9
pedals are owned and used by big name guys going into their stupidly overpriced amps. These same Ibanez TS-9 pedal is made in Taiwan and uses a JRC 4558 OpAmp which are a $1.40 each. Wholesale buying by the hundreds is going to be less than a buck. In short why wouldn't Caline make their Emerald Night TS-9 and just use the identical parts?
So what is the CP-69 a clone of? The leading candidate is the MXR Badass Distortion. I vote for at best maybe on the target but not a bullseye but cool for just being a good pedal, in fact majorly cool!
_____
I had heard an amp at some time this reminded me of but could not remember it. Then BINGO it came. An Orange amp.
Well I went on a hunt starting with vids of antique Orange amps. NO not those. In short it sounds like a new Rockerverb Mk.III, LOL. Billy Corban is using one on a tour at this very moment.
Nobody loves a beyond heavier than heavy sound than that guy.
CONCLUSION
Not only does it sound killer and very much like an Orange amp the build is easily as good as any new MXR both in and out. The pots are both firm and as smooth as glass. It is fat but tight with really good sustain.
I got mine from AliExpress for $40 with free shipping from the ZORY MUSIC STORE.

  1. The CALINE CP-69 HIGH PEAK DISTORTION sounds impressive! What are the 3 Caline pedals that you tried beside the originals that were 99.5% identical?

  2. The Caline Orangeburst is an Xotic BB Preamp, the Caline Emerald Night is an Ibanez TS-9, it even has switch on it that clicks on the Keeley mod, and the Caline Pure Sky is Veruram Jan Ray

  3. I just order one from that Ali store! How do you compare it to Caline Jaguar?

  4. The Jaguar is a lot more nasty and a bit buzzy close to Fuzz like. The Peak is tight yet still fat and the highs are very crisp and cutting and very tube amp like. The peak is totally mud free. if however I wanted a Jaguar vibe to it I could just stack a Fuzz on it.
