In my opinion the big deal about the Klon is its clean boost stage. 

It comes on at about 7 o'clock on the gain stage and literally fades 

out as a different mid gain stage fades in while the boost fades out around 9 o'clock. I love the boost stage of the Klon and I find the overdrive stage budget brand mediocre.

This pedal throws that overdrive stage out and replaces it with 

not just one sound but several you can get at inside the pedal.

    CONCLUSION __

Love it. It has some very inspiring sounds. I expect it could 

be an incredible boost to take the sound of for example a 

great MIAB into several new categories. Think of a pedal 

you own that is the perfect 'cake' but using this to add 

different icing's.

NUX have had a very impressive range of classic pedals for 5 years and others Mosky have finally caught on. This is Mosky's beefed up take on the Xotic BB preamp 1.5. Xotic is old school. They make pedals that are primarily to meant to act like hot rodding the amp you own. They are NOT an Amp-in-a-Box. The best thing about that is they do not have to compare to the yardstick of a real amp. 

It is more like the Fuzz thing. It is simply more about do you like it or not. If you don't it is more about taste than tech. 

The layout is Volume, Gain, Treble and Bass with a toggle that adds 

more saturation by compressing the signal. 

      CONCLUSION ___

It sounds good. You like it or not. It looks cool and the price is right.

The tone is all mids with an almost low gain Fuzz sound. 

I find uninspiring but usable.

It is more of an enhancer than what most of us call a preamp. 

It is not about standard EQ or overloading the amps pre to 

make it distort. It uses 2 preamp tubes. They are similar to 

the usual 12AX7 but with less gain. A 12AV7 and a 12AT7. 

Although not the same the Dr. Z amps have a similar circuit. 

      CONCLUSION __

The objective was to give your sound more sparkle 

and clarity and a slight 3 dimensional overall vibe. 

It does indeed do that. I would prefer that I could 

do this but with a bit more exaggeration. A bit of 

in your face. It can however take a quite good tube

clean amp and make it sound like you spent a

thousand more for audible bragging rights, 😇.

This little sweetheart, the NUX Lacerate uses 

FETS to give it a very similar effect. I like 

that you can get inside the box to give 

a much more exaggerated vibe. 

A $70.00 USD price doesn't hurt either

The first and probably the last of the electronic devices 

to create audio flatulence ...Just dial in all 11 controls 

& you instantly get a sound even a Shoegazer would 

be challenged to use.

CONCLUSION __

___WTF were they thinking of!!!!

If the average player can not find a great 

sound from a pedal in 5 or 10 minutes max 

it is on its way to the grave yard. 

It takes 1 minute on a Muff or a Tone Bender 

& that's with the lights off ...on a dark stage.

OCTAVER- NUX AUDIO NPO-2 Tutti Polyphonic Octave Pedal ___NEW ___impressive!

Exploring the layout tells its story. You get Dry, that blends 

your guitar signal with you octave one.  UP/BSP, it adjusts 

level for octave up plus lets you crate a split point where 

note higher then the setting do not trigger the octave. SUB 

is the level for the bass octave sound. A toggle switches 

from standard Poly mode or Bass or you can set the 

footswitch to momentary.

     CONCLUSION __ 

It has very good natural sound. It does not sound

synth like, but guitar like. Lag time is unnoticeable.

Tracking is dead on. Sonically it is up there with

the very best!!! The price is totally reasonable.

If this company was a Cancer Research Institute their next
big announcement would be that cigarettes cause cancer, lol.

In short these guys are laying the hype on with a trowel. 

They could win back some respect if they changed the

name to  Baltimore Sonics Flying Circus.

The layout is Volume, Texture messes with the BIAS. 

Voice, which is a Tilt EQ so you do not lose all your lows by pushing up your highs. and Attack allows going from a near

clean click from your pick to something softer but still with

some grit. The Range switch works with Texture as a kind of quantity off ...control. The Depth switch gives you 

dynamics over saturation. the Mode toggle appears to your clipping diode options. This pedal uses a transformer on 

the input for faux dynamics & sag. Nice! 

 

      CONCLUSION ___ 

It is the yet another of the never ending OpAmp wondertoys. 

It has very much a silicon vibe to it and is more Muff than 

Tone Bender. That said there are few basic sounds especially 

the gnarly ones that I find very appealing. The thing is once 

you scoot pass $200.00 USD you want some Oh f.ing WOW!!! 

I am not wowing this one. 

For those in the poverty bracket I again strongly suggest  

a $35.00 USD GOKKO AUDIO JK-61 Mogwai with its OD 

or Fuzz magic toggle.
