COMPRESSOR- ORIGIN EFFECTS Cali76___NEW___ replacement for the compact

ORIGIN EFFECTS Cali76
FET Compressor
$370.00 USD
ouch!
Has the best got better??? Just released. Except for the LED
lights the only giveaway is the f.ing price!!! 😕 lol.
The layout is Dry, for your wet/dry mix, Out, a level, Ratio,
amount of compression Attack, to delay the comp effect
kicking in and Release, how long before the comp fades out.
Actually this is a re-birth of the 10 year old giant size Cali 76 TX-L. They sell used for $1300 +. It was a dead serious studio comp.
It is know re-designed to fit a small enclosure and kill off their Compact.

CONCLUSION___
They needed to do something, because there
are now choices from Wampler, UA, and know
J. Rockett offering all the the different studio
classics so we have choice.
I confess I do 100% love this new/old Cali but
the new J.Rockett Airchild Sixty Six is equally
good and $230.00 USD.

$230.00 USD

  2. It gets good reviews that boast of its excellent specs and functions. Big but. All comps have a sound just like an OD. Some cheaper ones have only 3 knobs but sound great some have 6 and are unimpressive. Most of the average great OD's have a bit of both. Adequate EQ to match your rig but a great internal design with basic fixed voice that sounds very pleasing. At $345.00 USD for the Becos it is not cheap. I simply would not risk buying it without a few good players saying the simple words. "It sounds great".
I am leaning towards the J.Rocket as it is a take on the Fairchild. Back in the days of tape it was used on about 95% or all recordings to compress the dynamic range of tape recordings to go on vinyl records. There wasn't any option compression had to be done. The thing is the Fairchild left its sound on the records . No one complained. In fact they praised it and big names making records demanded that other makes of comps never be used. The sound is full, rich but tight.
Another thing is the Fairchild can be set to take the release time which is the tail of the note fading away and pull it up so you do not have gap or in effect an unwanted rest between finishing one note or chord and starting the next. It does this without sounding artificial. It simply makes it sound like you have a naturally great resonant guitar.
