First lets get rid of the stereo nonsense. This is not 2 sounds going to 2 different places. it is used to represent blending cleans into the distortion circuit. Rare for guitar pedals but all but totally standard for Bass players dirt pedals. the unit is an OpAmp hardclipper much like a Boss SD-1 or for that matter many Boss dirt pedals. Dimed it passes as a Fuzz.

            CONCLUSION ___ 

The old school casing and simple graphics 

and with a head turning red paint job is very appealing. (it also comes in ...yawn ...black). The overall sound is good if hardly new. The clean bend is damn useful. It is not worth $300. $250 tops.

This U.K. company has been in the amp biz since 1985. 

Not said? ...but the Dr. is probably a very simple single transistor 

circuit based on 1976 Electra MPC Dynamic Distortion Circuit.

The original is a tiny module that plugged into a receiving input 

built into a guitar. It is extremely dynamic and is often borrowed 

as a front end boost in dozens of otherwise completely different 

dirt pedals. So this is yet another.

            CONCLUSION ___

The sound in itself is not necessary ideal. It is all 

about the feel. Many of the best pedals  tweak it

and sold as boosts. They use clipping diodes on 

input not like 99% of all other pedals on the output. 

That all said this one has nailed it at its best.

and out of pedals without losing highs or lows. A boost can make 

up for great sounding PU's with a weak output like all vintage Fender. The 12dB Boost on the booster in the circuit is no 

doubt a very clean FET OpAmp

     CONCLUSION __ 

This is pedal that the day you plug it in you are convinced 

it does sweet F-all. You leave it as your always on for a  

couple of weeks. You thing it is not doing anything and 

pull it off your board. You are shocked to find your amp 

sounds like someone just through a heavy wool

blanket over your speaker.

There is a lot of detail in this pedal because it uses FETS that are  

a transistor equivalent of a real tube. This is not your average high 

gain dirt pedal with a nice cheap Opamp and some clipping diodes. 

It has to use several cascading FETS and build in a lot of headroom. 

The layout gives you a lot of tone shaping. You have Volume Treble,

Bass and Mids. The big deal is you have Mid Peak and mid Sweep a quasi parametric for your Mids and a likewise High Sweep. 

      CONCLUSION __ 

This is all about doing one thing perfect. If you want 

even a hair more of something in its range its there. 

The overall tone is free of fizz and artifacts. 

If Death Metal tones that are great are the perfect 

shade of purple this can do it. 

A cheap Fuzz stacked on a cheap high gain OpAmp pedal will be purple but a bit of Red or Blue 

will pop thru here and there as you are playing it. So you go for a couple of $30 pedals (I did) 

or you go for the luxury of a $350 pedal.

It goes in directly. Perhaps over simplified but the results go from 98% to 100% 

accuracy. If nothing else it makes your own sounds future proof when years 

from now you want to upgrade to even a different make of NAM unit 

you can bring your fave sounds with you.

CONCLUSION ___

This looks to be the one to beat. Small enough to still add a few pedals you 

can't live without and as close to perfect as it gets using high tech to nail 

the perfect clone of any amps sound.

The song more than the band really impressed me. It showed me all you need 

are Guitar Bass and Drums to create a tune that has a powerful dynamic. 

You must know how much and even when and where not to play. Attention 

to timing and melodic phrasing is crucial. Every note and chord either 

needs to be there or expressed differently or indeed given over to dead air.

I saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience when there was only one LP recorded. One of a very few beyond perfect performances!!! That night I knew I had to have a Wah. 

The only one available was the Cry Baby so choosing was not an issue. I got so I could do anything 

with it. I had it virtually nearly always on with my foot on moving very slightly to use it as liquid 

tone control to sweeten and or sustain every note. Yes I could do the rhythm thing but I found 

that wore thin and was easily overdone.

The pedal is machined out of solid aluminum for a precise fit and function and to take years of wear. The difference is that the Kotzen is spring loaded so the treadle will return with it's heel down without having 

to pull it down to start again and to give it some resistance for 

doing detailed moves in any location or its whole range. 

The sound is classic!!! 

 

  CONCLUSION __  

Better late than never, LOL. This is a serious tool, 

long overdue. It takes me back to my pre-Prog 

days. Definitely the one to have. Someone 

will re-invent the Wah with this one!!!

 

NAMM 2026 DANELECTRO has budget brand guitars

The budget brand is called Dano. The thing is the build and materials are exactly the 

same and they are made at the same factory in Korea. The tuners are actually much 

better. One could argue maybe the PU's are dumbed down but the PU's sound great 

and are wired hot like the 50's.  

It is all marketing. Purest will pay more for the same thing if the brand name on the 

headstock is Danelectro.

Liquid Sunshine

This pedal has been around since 2006. It is used more as a 

boost. That said it uses FETS so it is very tube amp sounding. 

It is old school when builders were not trying to clone other 

pedals or even make an Amp-in-a-Box. However it does 

indeed have an Amp-in-a-Box vibe, but not any specific amp. 

The layout is Volume, Gain and Emphasis a mid boost that 

gives a lot of breadth to the sound.

            CONCLUSION __

I am struck by its tasteful and unpretentious

graphics.  It looks understate and very classy.  

It sounds like an old 50's Class A Tube amp.

Impressive.
