Ever since the Peavey Bandit's second model the Peavey Bandit 65 came out Metal players of different genres found each subsequent model ideal for different genres. In this case it is Swedish Death Metal where

putting a Boss HM-2 thru a Peavey Bandit 112 Blue Stripe became the basis of the whole genre.

Amplifier-1983 Peavey Bandit 65.
Evidently Metallica use one on their first LP.
It is possible to buy Peavey Bandit amps for less than the pedal.It is starting to change but many of these amps are owned by older hobbyist that do not know that they are now considered cool. I have read of beat up but functional ones selling for as little as $50.00 USD. I myself got the Metallica one in mint condition for $280.00 USD yesterday! It is killer punchy and loud! It keeps up to a loud drummer! You can use it at a club gig without needing a mic.
