This is not a new idea as Thomas Blug makes the Bluguitar. The idea is to make an amp with the preamp being based on the best OD pedals and the amp section is solid state. Between the pre and the amp are two tiny amplifier tubes so the whole thing gives you a feeling of using your best OD pedal going thru a normal tube amp.Redstuff is a one man show so all product is priced as a custom piece where the price is agreed on between the customer and Redstuff as any amp can have more added or things removed from the basic model etc.
CONCLUSION
The basic idea is very good. BUT?
I think ideally the amp with a simple clean preamp and a single tube going into a 50 watt solid state amp in a small box is the way to go. I am sure such an amp can be kept under $500.00 USD.
If built in the 'East' it could be $300.00 USD and it would be the perfect yet affordable pedal board base.
