BOOST- CARL MARTIN Tone Tweaker ___NEW___ high quality clean boost

 CARL MARTIN
||Tone Tweaker
$160.00 USD
The company has been around forever making high quality handmade product. A few years back they like many companies offered a new line of pedals using modern methods of high end production to maintain our expectations but with a considerable
drop in price.
The layout is simple with Teble, Mid, Bass and Level. It has an
overall 12dB boost. The mids have an upper mids sweet spot not unlike a Tube Screamer. It is however truly transparent yet with
a very smooth velvet like warmth.
 CONCLUSION ___
It is all about getting more when you already
have enough. In short if you already have a
great sound you can make it a just right,
bigger and better one with this pedal.

REVERB- MOSKY AUDIO multi-Spring Reverb ... Earthquaker Vintage Voiced Reverb clone

 MOSKY AUDIO|Multi Spring Reverb

$45.00 USD
AliExpress w/free shipping
This is Mosky's take on the old Earthquaker Vintage Voiced Reverb.
It was a simple 3 knob jobbie so this seems a bit irrelevant. It is
I expect a modulation circuit from their delay recycled with some
verb voices to give them 2 products with one R&D budget.
The layout Attack, a pre-delay to have the verb come in after you
hit the string, Dwell, is a sustain to the effect, Depth controls the
wet dry mix. Modulation, is rotary switch gives you 4 types,
A toggle gives you a gain boost.
Conclusion ___
What it is, is an ambience reverb starting with a vague shot
at a Spring Reverb. 99% of guys are looking for a Spring are looking for a serious take on an Accutronics Spring verb in a Fender amp. This ain't it.
The Mosky Spring Reverb mini pedal is a Malekko clone it is a sqeaker, in short pro but bottom rung of the ladder pro.

FUZZ- Mythos ...All of them

MYTHOS FUZZ

A small company that like many started life with one guy making pedals on his kitchen table. We are treated to the usual reinventions of decades old now classic pedals.
These appeal mostly to those into Americana,
Indie Alt and Blues.
The Cork Sniffer reviewers have adopted them as the 'Real Deal'. The actual real deal was bands playing small bars on Friday night that had a few fights break out from too much beer.
An environment where these reviewers would feel like a fish in a tree, LOL
The pedals sound quite good but 30% of the price is what you pay for the privilege of owning one.

BOOSTER/PREAMP - BOSS BP-1W ___NEW___ understated but powerful!!!!

 BOSS Waza Craft   Booster/Preamp BP-1w

$170.00 USD

This kind of a boost is hardly new or indeed in short supply by many manufacturers. It can however if done right be a serious secret sauce
to your whole sound. It was a circuit pulled from the original Space Echo
and given the Waza Craft hand made treatment.
The layout is Level, Gain and a toggle for full
frequency, Low boost or High boost.

  CONCLUSION ___
It adds both bite and serious punch and
balz. It could even be an always on to
push everything up front even on
a clean sound.

INTERFACE- KMA MACHINES Duality Calibrator___NEW___ everything, anything solver

KMA ENDGAME
DUALITY CALIBRATOR
In today's world of sending pedals to everything from your amp, to front of the house and a list of things between where that sound has to go to KMA have designed a pedal to cover everything. It  even solves problems you didn't know you had, LOL. The Layout is one of everything and two of others, lol.
Conclusion ___
I have interface problems but I keep creating more, LOL. For know I have simple but hardly final answers as I can not decide to stay with my Marshall rig of amp, attenuator and cab with Shure SM57 Mic, go totally Modeler or more probable the Friedman tube preamp with power amp and
cab monitor. In all cases I may just need this box.

FUZZ- VVco PEDALS mini Pickle Fuzz... serious sh@t , lol

$126.00 USD

 VVco|Pedals|l|mini PICKLE FUZZ

Believe it or not a Big Muff. Perhaps a Little Muff
to those who wish to argue semantics. 😇
The layout is Volume, and a smiling
pickle face👽
___
Conclusion ___
It actually sounds very good
and could fit into nearly any
genre.

OVERDRIVE- MXR Distortion III ...15 years old & still under the radar?

MXR| distortion III
$100.00 USD
The original Distortion+ was the fist stab at a pedal with a tube like vibe.
It was followed almost immediately by the DOD 250 Pre, a near dead clone. Much later MXR brought out the Distortion III but it was a big pedal with an AC cord hanging out of it. It was pricey and in a world where pedals were cheap and used batteries it died. Billy Corgan used one as a boost to get his famous massive sound. Past FX just released ...distortiion. A seriously good clone of it. Check my Post.
The MXR III came out 15 years ago with MXR determined to make it a standard size and reasonable price tag. It zeroed in on the big mid honk of the Distortion II but the lows were ignored. The layout is Volume, Tone and Gain.
CONCLUSION ___
On the down side it lacks any sustain. Its girth and resonance
could be ideal for even boosting a very transparent pedal
without smothering that pedals tone. In short I see it as
a 'stacker' put on anything where it can fatten the
sound of any kind of dirt pedal. The price is reasonable.

OVERDRIVE- PAST FX Distortiion___NEW____ MXR Distortion II clone

 PastFx  distortiion
$160.00 USD
The MXR Distortion II was a monster pedal that you plugged into the wall. It was indeed pricey and bulky and in the days of using a battery this all added up to a big failure. Billy Corgan stumbled on one and found its transparency vibe and huge sound was ideal to stack on a Muff and/or a cranked amp. It gave him that massive sound he is famous for.
The layout is Filter an EQ,  Resonance is a Bass boost, Drive adds more gain, the Symmetrical/Asymmetrical button goes from Tube Screamer to a more
tube like voice. A second button Q smooths out the the peak in the boost.
CONCLUSION ___
It is at its best a as boost pedal on a Fuzz,
OD or amp with some Crunch. As a boost it just doesn't get better
it not only gives you a massive sound but does that with some rich tone
free of mud or fuzziness

INTERVIEW ____JOHN SCOTT of BAD CAT Amplification____

JOHN THOMPSON

OVERDRIVE- BOSS DS-1X Distortion ... is it better than the classic ???

BOSS  DISTORTION DS-1X

$170.00 USD

The original BOSS DS-1 was the first high gain OD to try and get an amp-in-a-box vibe. It shares a lot with the RAT but even Pro-Co admitted that store salesmen called it a Fuzz and they did not
discourage them as most players were conditioned to looking
for the best Fuzz not some gimmicky Overdrive thing.
I had the original with just Volume, Gain and Tone. If you pushed
up the Tone for a bit of bite the Lows disappeared. Having the
Bass and Treble certainly make a big difference.
CONCLUSION ___
So is it a winner? Well the down side is it is a digital pedal.
In short a Modeler. You lose the warmth and dynamics
that the Original has. You do get a fatter tighter sound
and with a lot of definition on every note in a chord.
In short not a trace of mud.
With very good cheap modelers like the ToneX One for
$10 more that can allow you download endless sounds.
It becomes a no-brainer to heavily weigh out any
one trick digital effect before jumping in.

FUZZ- FUZZROCIOUS 4320 Fuzz ....2 in 1 OpAmp funster :-)

FUZZROCIOUS420 fUZZ
$175.00 USD
Virtually a basic Muff like highly sustaining Fuzz with a mid scooped Octave Fuzz. The layout has a Tone and Volume for each voice.
You get a blend control for the two voices and a blend for cleans.
You can toggle between  9v or 18v so you can go for more
headroom or more saturated sustain. A second footswitch
cuts out the 1st voice.
 Conclusion . .
Nothing to complain about. It has a huge
wall of sound. The gain is fixed in the sweet
spot so even if it is your first Fuzz you get
instant killer sound. It checks my box,
just give me one perfect sound instead
of an array of second rate sounds.
