In 1984 DOD brought out the DOD FX56 American Metal to compete with the very successful BOSS HM2. In the 80's DOD still was lumbered with players seeing them as the go-to for a budget cheapie. It meant they had to get very creative to make a good pedal and keep it within a budget. Some were as we know now very good in spite of it all. The American Metal is know a pricy collectable.

The layout is both simple and identical with Volume, Presence and Gain.

     CONCLUSION ___

At any rate love it or hate it the Dunn is literally a 

duplicate circuit on a scope as well as with your ear. 

It is the real deal.  

I have no opinion on it. I owned a mint condition first year made Boss HM 2 that I only took out of its sealed box to see if it worked before I sold it. I bought it new but I was accepted at a college on the same day. Long story but I simply forgot I owned it. 

It had been in a suitcase for decades, LOL.
