 GNARLY  FUZZ

When I was a kid I bought a Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz Tone. When I got it, 

it was the only Fuzz on the damn planet you could actually go to a 

store and buy.

The first Tonebender was simply a beefed up Fuzz Tone. The Gnarly 

is a take on our great grandad's dirt pedal. The layout is volume, 

Gain and BIAS.

   CONCLUSION __

The Gnarly is tweaked to give it a bit more consistency 

by swapping out the germanium transistors for silicon.

But the added BIAS gives you a hint of octave up and  

adds a bit of snarl.
