Not an original idea but when done well it is very impressive. The idea is to put a tube amps clean channel preamp in a pedal. It can be used go into the effects loop of your amp to replace or enhance the one in the amp. It can be used to give a tube warmth to modelers.
It use a 12au7 tube. This tube is a little weaker than the typical 12ax7 typically used in a preamp section but not totally rare and can be reasonably easy to get.
The layout has not only volume but a 3 way EQ which is unusual for many pedal tube pre's. Tube tech is not cheap so there is the 'ouch' factor :-( the tube
really needs a cage over it. It is not hard to get burnt by touching a tube. More important is protection as glass is glass!
CONCLUSION
I have heard many other tube preamps and most have a 'personality' to the sound that takes over your sound which I have not liked. The 'Marty' is excellent it adds character without imprinting an odd tone.
Is the tube driven by High Voltage?
