$180.00 USD Cheeseball.

The layout is Volume, Gain and Tone. A toggle lets you 

choose from 3 voices. A scooped, a mid boost or a gated. 

 

         CONCLUSION ___  

Both Gigahearts and JHS feel they nailed it.

The price is more or less the same. The Small

Cheese uses the original BC549c transistors. 

JHS does not say? Why? 😒

Before Valeton became an award winning Modeler maker winning 

'Best Of's' for their 2 NAM pedals they made serious clone pedals. 

In February they re-release their Loft series of Boss pedal clones. 

Many are defunct collectors items Boss pedals. ALL use the original 

OpAmps to nail the exact tone of the original. Today we may have 

perhaps as a planned leak. They are showing this pedal from a 

kind of best of any classic. Once again using rare NOS original 

OpAmps. In this case the original Tube Screamer with a JRC4558. 

The layout has the expected Volume and Gain but instead of Tone 

we get Bass and Treble. The original Tube Screamer had very 

weak lows, so this could be a welcome change. 

      CONCLUSION __  

What's not to like? Who clones a 47 year old pedal

with the original OpAmp for reasonable money? 

It just doesn't happen. Or does it???

they are returning to make pedals ??? They have about 35 pedals on their site. 

All dirt pedals. There are no transferable pics or any prices.

Boss having borrowed from the 1968 Shin-ei or in America the Univox Super Fuzz made a octave Fuzz  between 1993 to 1997 that has rivalled them all. but since it was discontinued others come and go from time to time. The layout for this one is Volume, Gain Bass, Treble and a rotary switch with 4 voices. Fuzz 1, Scoop (or Fuzz 2), Hump which is a blend of all and Boost for the octave up. A second footswich brings on the Boost.

   CONCLUSION __ 

All and ant octave Fuzz units can get very, very nasty  

bordering on the unusable. I like mine scooped and 

then using it to Boost an OD. the OD tightens and 

cleans it up to useful proportions.

I have and use the $30.00 USD 

Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz

It sounds close enough to the Boss that never bet 

in a blindfold test you can hear any. It gets trashed 

as a plastic piece of junk that breaks down. 

I have had zero problems. The only pedals that died 

on me were brand names. Boss, MXR & Electro Harmonix

On the surface it is simply a Fuzz Face with a tone control. 

Like all Reeves pedals every part is the best of the best 

and many parts the best is NOS of parts not made in 

5 or 6 decades.

CONCLUSION ___

Reeves are both a pedal and a work of art. They are a total indulgence. A Ferrari for those who are afraid of speed, LOL.

In my opinion the big deal about the Klon is its clean boost stage. 

It comes on at about 7 o'clock on the gain stage and literally fades 

out as a different mid gain stage fades in while the boost fades out around 9 o'clock. I love the boost stage of the Klon and I find the overdrive stage budget brand mediocre.

This pedal throws that overdrive stage out and replaces it with 

not just one sound but several you can get at inside the pedal. 

The first video covers all that.

    CONCLUSION __

Love it. It has some very inspiring sounds. I expect it could 

be an incredible boost to take the sound of for example a 

great MIAB into several new categories. Think of a pedal 

you own that is the perfect 'cake' but using this to add 

different icing's.

NUX have had a very impressive range of classic pedals for 5 years and others Mosky have finally caught on. This is Mosky's beefed up take on the Xotic BB preamp 1.5. Xotic is old school. They make pedals that are primarily to meant to act like hot rodding the amp you own. They are NOT an Amp-in-a-Box. The best thing about that is they do not have to compare to the yardstick of a real amp. 

It is more like the Fuzz thing. It is simply more about do you like it or not. If you don't it is more about taste than tech. 

The layout is Volume, Gain, Treble and Bass with a toggle that adds 

more saturation by compressing the signal. 

      CONCLUSION ___

It sounds good. You like it or not. It looks cool and the price is right.

The tone is all mids with an almost low gain Fuzz sound. 

I find uninspiring but usable.

It is more of an enhancer than what most of us call a preamp. 

It is not about standard EQ or overloading the amps pre to 

make it distort. It uses 2 preamp tubes. They are similar to 

the usual 12AX7 but with less gain. A 12AV7 and a 12AT7. 

Although not the same the Dr. Z amps have a similar circuit. 

      CONCLUSION __

The objective was to give your sound more sparkle 

and clarity and a slight 3 dimensional overall vibe. 

It does indeed do that. I would prefer that I could 

do this but with a bit more exaggeration. A bit of 

in your face. It can however take a quite good tube

clean amp and make it sound like you spent a

thousand more for audible bragging rights, 😇.

This little sweetheart, the NUX Lacerate uses 

FETS to give it a very similar effect. I like 

that you can get inside the box to give 

a much more exaggerated vibe. 

A $70.00 USD price doesn't hurt either
