The intention was not to reinvent it but to set it to its sweet spot and add some serious life and expression by using an expander circuit to punch 

up the whole sound. The layout is of course Volume, Tone and Gain 

with a toggle to add levels of expansion. 

     CONCLUSION ___

The secret sauce is the Expander. An expander is the opposite to a Compressor it pushes up not squeeze down. Think of it as giving 

poke to every click of your pick on a string.

That said all that poke turns it nearly into Fuzz. If you are looking 

more to this pedal as a transparent booster as in a Stevie Ray 

Vaughn thing this is NOT it. Get the $200.00 USD KingTone Soloist.

Made in Japan by a small company with a dozen assorted dirt pedals and some Pickups & Asc.

The pedal is a take on a Marshall Plexi dialed into a crunch 

sound. 

The layout is Volume, Gain, Bass, Mids, Treble and a Boost.

     CONCLUSION __

It has a nice balzy punch & good sustain. It is going for 

a crunch & there is lot of definition. 

Marshalls own 1959 does this & more for $160.00 USD. 

Although it focuses on higher gain the Tone City Golden 

Plexi is worthy of anyone's attention. It is $60.00 USD.

This unit takes no prisoners, LOL. It covers all the basics and no end of 'Stat Wars Only'. That said it 

is much more user friendly than units that do 

half as much.

      CONCLUSION __

In the real world it demands a leaning curve 

too demanding for many of use. Me included. That said just like a Ferrari it is always nice to pull on the gearshift and push some buttons and switches.

A classic in a dual pedal. The Crunch side from the original

v.1 and the classic lead side was what overtime was considered the best, the v.2 was an obvious choice and since has been generally though as the best. both have toggle for 

a second voice, both sides have a standard OCD layout of Volume, Tone and Gain and a toggle for the HP & LP sound.

            CONCLUSION __

The v.2 is arguably all one needs in a single pedal but with a separate boost even a Tube Screamer Circuit tuned to a SRV sound like the King Tone 

Solo would have been perfect.

What is it? Digital works in audio by recording tiny bits of sound 

and then playing them back in an instant stream. If there are 

too few then the playback has a noticeable gap of distortion. 

Chips of such low quality were first used primarily in talking 

toys like dolls.  

The layout helps explain. You get Volume. Slew which toggles on 

more degradation. Frequency chooses a narrow area like the highs 

or lows to be effected. Depth blends the clean with effect. 

A second foot switch triggers in a full on Glitch effect.

           CONCLUSION __

For most of us it is too crazy to use and if we wanted 

really weird then try a ring modulator it is somewhat 

similar but arguably more musically usable.

Most people these days know of Bjorn's designs via Mad Professor 

pedals as the guy has designed most of them. The most notable 

is the Dyna Red that has been with us forever and for good reason. 

The newest version of that is called the Strawberry Red. In either 

case this is a low gain version. The layout is Volume, Drive & Treble.

            CONCLUSION ___

I find it too gutless. Check out 

the Dyna Red clone.
